Well, either this one was difficult, or y'all didn't like the question.

Answer:

According to one legend, the M on the tabby's forehead is said to have 
come from Mohammed, left there when he touch his favorite cat's forehead 
to signify his great esteem for cats.

Another legend says that the Virgin Mary asked the animals in the stable 
to come closer to warm the baby Jesus in the manger.  A tabby cat jumped 
into the manger and nestled beside the baby, purring and warming him. 
To show her gratitude, Mary bestowed her initial on the cat's forehead.

Personally, I think the M stands for "Magnificent!" <g>
