Ah.  You've been labeled by the locals as the lady that takes in stray 
cats!  Be forewarned. :-)  Once word gets out like that, it'll likely 
start happening more and more.

I knew a couple of ladies (mother and daughter) who used to come into 
the clinic where I worked who rescued cats and kittens.  They weren't 
part of a rescue group - just worked on their own.  They told us once 
folks start spreading the word around about them, people would leave 
cats/kittens on their doorstep all the time.  Since they didn't have the 
heart to take them to a shelter, they ended up with almost 100 cats they 
couldn't find homes for.  A neighbor reported them for animal hoarding, 
and the SPCA raided them and took all of the cats she wasn't able to get 
out before they arrived.
